Luke Whisnant’s novel Watching TV with the Red Chinese was made into an independent film in 2010; his most recent book is Down in the Flood, a collection of stories. His work has appeared in the anthologies This Is Where We Live: Short Stories by 25 Contemporary North Carolina Writers, Racing Home: New Stories by Award-Winning North Carolina Writers, and Long Story Short: Flash Fiction by Sixty-five of North Carolina’s Finest Writers, and three of his stories have been reprinted in New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best. His work has been featured in a numerous journals and magazines, including Esquire, Arts & Letters, American Short Fiction, Poetry Quarterly, and Flash: The International Magazine of the Short-Short Story. He is professor of English at East Carolina University, where he also edits Tar River Poetry.
